Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
I’ve read a lot of articles about what Mario Kart 7 supposedly doesn’t do - lists of empirical deductions about what the game lacks, used to justify unnecessarily low scores.
Oh, by the way, I really hate grades and scores, you know?
But let’s stop and think about what Mario Kart 7 actually delivers, for a moment. Let’s forget the outrage of missing characters such...

Review: Xenoblade Chronicles
This article originally appeared on the sadly defunct gamepro.com.
Although Gamepro still kinda lives as part of another network, most of its articles were not carried over. Apparently, this is one of those. Having put a ton of work into this and seeing how the game is on its way to the States (April 2012, baby!), I felt re-publishing it here was a good idea. I hope I didn’t break any...

We weren't born to follow
What happened to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers?
It was supposed to be another multiplayer action adventure - this time with a more robust single player campaign - much like its predecessor on GameCube. When the game was first shown to the public during E3 2006, it predictably looked like this.
But then something went wrong.
The Crystal Bearers started to phase...

The Secret World of Link
While everyone is too busy with the controversy about how magnificent and/or bugged Skyward Sword is, I decided to forget about it for a while and take advantage of my prestigious status of Nintendo Ambassador to play another episode of the Zelda series, one that I ended up dismissing with a loud “meh” when I played it back in the days of its original release.
I thought Minish Cap...

soapy-illusions:
Game reviews are flawed. It’s partly the general public’s fault, partly the journalist themselves, and most wholly because of the review process itself. Writing about games has gone from the painfully simplistic to the intensely complex, inventing new academic words to discuss the finer points of…

Wait! They don't love you like I love you.
“Love is over”, reads Catherine’s game over screen, once poor lead Vincent falls to his death from one of those bloody floating cubes.
Sometimes it’s the player’s fault; sometimes you can’t help but blame the awful camera and the awkward controls. It’s easy to get upset at the game, especially in the beginning, when rules are still obscure and...

Introducing Ms Nadia Fortune
Wow what a furry week!
So here’s my next best favourite character from Skullgirls, Ms.Fortune.
She easily has the most charming background of the cast so far, and I really dig the design and fighting style. It’s as if Yoshida, Jedah and Felicia went on a picnic and decided to experiment with new gameplay mechanics involving detachable heads instead of playing dodgeball or something.

Who wants to be the king of pirates?
Keiji Inafune finally unveiled the first proper console project of his young company, Intercept.
This short trailer (along with a few screenshots) shows so little about the game, yet it’s clear Capcom’s former head of developement is working his magic again.
The game is called Kai-Oh, which could be translated as Sea King, although magazines around the internet have already started...

"We're Star Fox!" (#3 The Little Things....)
soapy-illusions:
I’m sure I’m not the only one to notice this….
So, Nintendo has re-released Lylat Wars (Star Fox 64) on the 3DS with the amazingly awkward new name of Star Fox 64 3D. Despite the unfortunate name it’s an extensive remake with touched up visuals, re-recorded dialogue, new methods of control and, of course, the titular 3D effect slapped on to warrant its release on the 3DS. It’s...

Super Puzzle Platformer
I just finished writing thingy about Luigi I’m hopefully gonna post right here around next week, and I’m taking a little break before giving the finishing touches to my Radiant Silvergun review for an Italian gamejourno. A friend linked me this a while ago, and I can’t think of a better way to kill some time while recharging my batteries.
Instead of writing a river of digital...

A quick tutorial!
I’ve been playing Mega Man: Dr Wily’s Revenge in the last 40 minutes. My last post was pretty clear.
Get the game.
But then I realized some of you might have no clue about how the 3DS eShop works, or, even worse, have the console covered in dust and forgot how to operate it alltogether.
Don’t worry. Here. Let me show you how to do it.
First of all, locate your 3DS and grab...

Time to kick Elec Man's ass once again!
Ok boys, it’s time to turn on your 3DS and enter the eShop. Mega Man: Dr Wily Revenge is finally available on Virtual Console.
Personally, I think it’s one of the best entries in the series. If you’re an avid Rockman player, it will feel a bit slow at first, but the remade levels are just so much better than the original counterparts, not to mention that the Wily Fortress is a...

About Xenoblade Chronicles
Guys, I really hope Xenoblade Chronicles gets a US release.
This game blew my mind: I often complained about how no RPG could surpass masterpieces such as Dragon Quest V, Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana.
Monolith proved me wrong.
Xenoblade is a revolution. And, more importantly, it’s got so much content, love and passion that it rightuflly must be considered one of the best RPG - and...

Lonely Rolling Lucky Stars
Your name is Luna.
You’re a French-speaking alien cutie engaged to a cyborg T-Rex.
Your job is…jumping around the galaxy destroying planets. For a secret government agency.
Welcome to WayForward’s bizarre second entry in the “Mighty series”: Mighty Milky Way, one of my best friends in this 3DS barren summer. Since my first contact with Contra 4, my respect for...

Stark's Rumors Recap!
starkgames:
Last time I mentioned some juicy rumors that are - WOW - becoming true, one after the other.
I think it’s a good time to make a recap, while adding more that have been reported recently - I included in the list the rumors that have already been confirmed as well. They are marked with an X.
[X] SEGA is developing a Layton-like rhythm action game for 3DS. [X] Capcom will unveil...

Hey you, calm down!
I’m not really sure what’s happening, internet.
Lately it’s as if every news about Nintendo causes grievance and disgust. Ever since the 3DS launch, it’s been nothing but drama everywhere.
People can’t help but complain and complain every time 3DS name is printed or typed somewhere. The eShop was late and it sucks, there’s no good games, Megaman Legends 3 was...

Where I've been
Hello guys!
So, I’ve been slacking quite a bit with updates lately. There’s a reason. Actually more than just one.
Putting my personal life to the side for a moment - it will somewhat come back later in the form of articles about Super Mario World, Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light - part of my absence has been due to me visiting Koln (Germany) for GDC...

Persona, Persona, call out your Persona...
Here’s a mandatory follow-up post to the Persona fighting game announcement, because I’m a nerd.
Let’s start with important stuff: screenshots here, promptly provided by White Knight Rizzou.
But guys, be careful, because this post might contain spoilers, so if you haven’t played Persona games to completion and don’t want me to ruin surprises or plot twists, you...

Battle for Everyone's Souls
Hello world.
There’s nothing better than waking up to Persona-related news. Especially when the news is about a Persona themed fighting game by none other than Arc System Works.
Just a few details have surfaced about the project, called Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena, but it’s more than enough to make any fanboy uber-excited.
Atlus and Arc-System must have been inspired...

That Isle from Subspace
Indie games have this thing, this tendency to pick only two out of the following three: original gameplay, good graphics/sound, lack of bugs.
Science can explain why.
So many people who started playing in the late seventies-early eighties, grew up dreaming of making their own game. And they can now — they could and did for a while, actually.
Making games has become quite a feasible task,...
